How it works

Step 1. Plot a path to success

Roadmap Session

We understand that for someone with a phobia of dogs, the thought of getting help can be overwhelming. You may be wondering if therapy will even work.

Whether you struggle with a fear of dogs yourself, or you're the parent of a child with cynophobia, we'll help you plot a path from fear to freedom in this 90-minute telehealth consultation.

We'll use this session to get a deep understanding of your phobia, make a plan to help you overcome your fear of dogs for good, and answer all your questions about therapy.

After the session, you'll be ready to start therapy, if you decide it's right for you.

If you can't come to Sydney for therapy, we can use this session to work out the best way to help you remotely - something we now have a lot of experience doing.

Session fee: $295 (Medicare rebate: $93.35)

Step 2. Break free from fear

After the Roadmap Session, you're ready to overcome your phobia of dogs for good with 1‑on‑1 Therapy.

This is where the magic happens. We don't like to boast, but we believe we offer the best therapy programs for cynophobia in the world - for kids and adults alike.

In 1‑on‑1 Therapy, we use evidence-based behaviour therapy to help you fundamentally change how your brain reacts to dogs. As well as feeling confident around dogs, you will also learn how to interact confidently with them.

We offer therapy programs for clients based in Sydney, as well as an intensive program for visiting clients. Our programs are fun, empowering and, most importantly, effective.

Therapy begins at a level you feel comfortable with, and progresses gradually over time as you gain confidence. No two phobias are quite the same, so this process is completely tailored to your needs.

What does the science say?

A meta-analysis of 33 clinical trials conducted over three decades, concluded that the approach we employ in our clinic (known as in vivo exposure therapy) is the most effective therapy for phobias when compared to other approaches.

For this reason, the Australian Psychological Society states that "exposure therapy has the most research evidence as an effective treatment for specific phobias" and the American Psychological Association lists exposure therapy as the only therapy approach for phobias that has "strong research support".

Standard therapy program

Ideal for clients over 8 years old

Our standard program is designed for adults, and kids over 8 years old, who are able to attend regular sessions in-person.

This program consists of five one-hour therapy sessions, plus a final two-hour session.

We're absolutely confident that you'll love the program, but if you decide not to continue after the first session, we'll give you a full refund for the remaining sessions.

The majority of clients achieve their therapy goals in just six to 10 sessions, however additional 1-on-1 Therapy sessions can easily be arranged if you need a bit more time.

Program fee: $1,995 (Medicare rebate: $703.50)

Junior therapy program

Ideal for clients under 8 years old

Our junior program is designed for kids aged 4 to 8 years who are able to attend regular sessions in Sydney.

For younger children, we keep our therapy sessions short and sweet with a focus on fun.

This program consists of up to eight half-hour therapy sessions and a final one-hour session for your child, as well as a parent/carer consultation. We may suggest additional parent consultations where these are likely to be beneficial.

We find most children achieve their goals in the eight included sessions, but we are happy to provide additional sessions as needed.

As with the standard therapy program, we offer a full refund of the remaining sessions if for any reason, you or your child decides not to continue after the first session.

Program fee: $1,995 (Medicare rebate: $903.45)

Intensive therapy program

Ideal for clients visiting Sydney for therapy

Our intensive therapy program is designed for clients at least 8 years old visiting Sydney for therapy, and is usually completed over two consecutive days.

The intensive program consists of two three-hour therapy sessions and also includes a follow-up telehealth session after completing the program, to ensure that you have guidance when you return home and are able to continue to build on the progress you make.

Of course, additional telehealth sessions can be arranged if needed, to provide ongoing support until you achieve your goals.

Note: the intensive program is not suitable for very young kids, but if you're a parent of a child under 8 years old, we'd still love to help you with a Roadmap Session.

Program fee: $1,895 (Medicare rebate: $300.70)

Remote coaching sessions

Ideal for clients unable to come to Sydney

If you can't make it to Sydney to see us in-person, but would still like to take advantage of our unique expertise, remote coaching sessions might be just what you're looking for.

During your Roadmap Session, we will work out how we can best help you where you live, and whether remote coaching sessions are right for you.

Session fee: $165-$225 (Medicare rebate: $66.20-$93.35)
